Volvo V70 Brake Issue – Replacing a Seized Brake Caliper

When his Volvo V70 started pulling slightly to the right, UKMotorTalk’s Graham Benge looked into the possible causes…

Being both a keen … and mean … amateur mechanic, he decided to try to fix the problem without rushing it into, and paying out for, his local garage.

Graham works through the steps involved in diagnosing the problem, taking the front braking system apart, and acquiring and fitting the necessary replacement parts needed to ensure the vehicle is safe and will pass the next MOT.

After several hours working on the car, and to make it all worthwhile, Graham compares the cost of doing the job himself with what he might have had to pay for a garage to do it, and is (more than) glad of the achievable savings.
